My Best Friend Veterinary End of Life Care

My Best Friend is Australia’s first dedicated and most experienced in home Veterinary ‘end of life care’ service.

Dr Emma Whiston established My Best Friend in 2004 and has a particular interest in the human-animal bond, geriatric medicine, palliative care, euthanasia and bereavement. She understands and is sensitive to the difficulties and emotions that may be associated with the management at the end of a pet’s life.

Dr Emma is a caring and understanding Veterinarian, who will carefully assess the health and quality of life of your pet in your home. In many cases, it may be possible to help ease geriatric health problems and improve comfort levels.

There are many reasons why Melbourne Veterinarians trust My Best Friend and feel confident to refer their clients to Dr Emma. She has many years of clinical experience, a long history of helping clients as well as a special and passionate interest in this area. Dr Emma is very happy to work either independently or co-operatively with your pet’s regular veterinarian or health care provider in order to ensure that optimal care is achieved.

In 2011, we were honoured to accept the Chairman’s Award for Excellence in Business awarded by the Whitehorse Business Group in the City of Whitehorse. In 2012 and 2013, we have been nominated for the Telstra Business Awards

Home consultations eliminates the need to move a painful or immobile patient, the stress of car rides, clinical smells, interactions with other animals, slippery floors and stainless steel tables. Being at home allows clients to relax as much as possible. We are comfortable working on the floor, outside in the sunshine or on the client’s bed.

Dr Emma and My Best Friend, has earned a professional and compassionate reputation. We are proud that Melbourne is recognised as the leader in Geriatric Medicine, Palliative Care and ‘End of Life Care’ for our beloved companion animals.
